Courses

The teaching form in the MAS in Medical Physics includes lectures, exercises, block courses, and seminars. In addition, the Master Thesis is an important part of the programme (15 out of 63 or 67 ECTS). The topic of the master thesis is agreed on between a direct supervisor and the student.

While some of the lectures are especially dedicated for the MAS (e.g. Anatomy and Physiology) other lectures are parts of other master programmes at ETH Zurich. The two main exam modes in the MAS are written and oral exams, which take place at the end of the semester or in the examination sessions of ETH Zurich. There is no possibility to replace a basic lecture (those in the first year) by another alternative course, i.e. all of them have to be passed. In case of failure in an exam every performance assessment can be repeated exactly once. In the second year students of specialisation B can replace some lectures according to the programme of the specific major, which is not possible for students of the specialisation A.

The MAS in Medical Physics is fully integrated into myStudies and the ETH Course Catalogue, which simplifies the organization of the lectures and ECTS credits required for the MAS.

The general study language is English. All lectures of the first year are held in English. In part, some lectures and block courses may be held in German.
