Medical physics is the application of physics to the needs of medicine. It is an exciting, challenging and growing field, which resides at the interfaces between physics, engineering, biology and medicine.
The field of medical physics includes many diverse areas like medical imaging, radiation therapy, radiation safety, biomedical engineering, bioimaging, biomechanics, bioinstrumentation and biocompatible materials to only mention a few examples.
With the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Medical Physics ETH offers a continuing education programme for interested students who want to enter the field of medical physics as well as already experienced medical physicists that want to deepen their knowledge in one of the different areas in the field of medical physics. The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Medical Physics has two specialisations, one in Radiation Therapy and one in General Medical Physics. The Radiation Therapy specialisation mainly focuses on the classical medical physics applications of radio therapy and imaging and aims to provide the theoretical basics for the SSRMP certification. The General Medical Physics specialisation comes in several majors, which account for the various areas of medical physics.
The Master of Advanced Studies in Medical Physics starts every two years (in even numbered years) and aims to provide a solid foundation in the field of medical physics, such that graduates can quickly and successfully be employed in medical physics related jobs in hospitals, industry and research.
Successful students will receive the title "MAS ETH in Medical Physics". A supplementary documentation will show the teaching modules followed as well as the title of the Master Thesis.
